3. Intellectual Property Rights

  • Work-for-hire: Specify that IP transfers to the client only upon full payment
  • License vs. assignment: Decide whether you're licensing the work or permanently transferring ownership
  • Portfolio rights: Reserve the right to showcase the work in your portfolio

4. Confidentiality and NDA

Common Freelance Contract Mistakes

"Build a website" is not a scope of work. Specify number of pages, features, technologies, responsive requirements, browser compatibility, and everything else in detail.

4. Unlimited Revisions

Offering unlimited revisions is a recipe for project scope creep. Always cap revisions and charge for additional rounds.

5. Missing Termination Clause
